I just paid off my student line of credit with RBC that my parents were cosigners on.
Now collections have come after me for a student loan from Manitoba from the late 80s, early 90s. They said they had a last payment of 2006.
I live in the US now and am not sure how it works anymore - do they have the ability to collect this?
Thanks for any input you can offer.

You want to discover if your loans are statute barred. That may take some investigation. At the moment, do not write anything to them as that would acknowledge the debt. You might want to talk to John at CFW Group. He charges fees but can assess whether the loan is statute barred or not.
