I've so far received RAP-PD for 2 years, wondering all this time why I keep being required to provide documentation of my incredibly low income. One time I called NSCLSC and was told it is a random check. Another time, I finally got the answer from someone else at the call centre that borrowers with permanent disabilities are always required to provide proof of income - which I had of course started to suspect.

Sooooo.... does this not sound a bit like, ummm - discriminatory crap to anyone else? I'm seriously thinking whether it may even be grounds for a human rights complaint. I'd love to know if anyone else has an interest in pursuing this.

A bit of background - I have a learning disability, not severe enough to make me unemployable, although it was enough that I failed my clinical courses in a really hard health care program and got kicked out. I am now underemployed and stuck with a pile of student loans Ouch

Hi Activist,

Doesn't everyone have to provide proof of income every 6 months, similar to the interest relief program?  They probably just lump everyone including PD together to make it easier for them, same rules for all.  Not saying it's right, but probably not discriminatory.  From my experiences with the interest relief program, they are administratively inept at the best of times.  I'm on EI and will be applying for RAP shortly.  I may be ranting before you know it.
