Hi all,

Long time reader but first time poster.

Recently due to overwhelming debt, I made a consumer proposal and it has been accepted. And payments started.

As part of rebuilding my credit, I already got a CAP one card with no security funds and decent credit limit.

However, most banks are included in my CP including Desjardins but not RBC.  Currently I bank with RBC.

I know that both TD and RBC won't give you a secured card if your credit is bad.

What about desjardins.  They are included but there is no data on how they would react if I ask for a secured card from them?  Knowing that it is a credit union and all that, I am just wondering if they would ever consider me for a secured card?

I won't be willing to transfer my banking to them though although I have a checking account with them.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

If you are now shopping for more credit, won't that lead to a repeat of the credit problems you had?  Why not just stick with one card, and make sure it is paid off every month.  Otherwise you'll end up in the same place that resulted in the proposal.  The time to change your habits is now.

Yes, yes.  I don't need credit granted.  I am changing my habits.  Even the cap one, I got because of need to buy airline tickets and all.  I am paying of that card every pay day.

I am just going to sit tight and be very careful.

Thanks for the reply.  It was more of a curiosity question and seeking more credit is of no interest for me.  I am paying for all by debit card and I am happy about it since I won't pay a dime for interest ever again.

Thanks,
