Hi,

I went to DeVRY Institute in Ontario back in 2000-2001 for an Electronic Technician Diploma. I got at student loan to pay for it. However during my last semester I was unable to get funding, for reasons unknown, an did not get my diploma. I therefore did not benefit from my education and have been an low income ever since with a family to support with no hope to retire. Now both the Federal and Ontario portions of the loan were paid off back in 2007 and shortly after that collection agencies have been harassing me since for the Scotia bank loan ($13000) which I was completely unaware of.

I am 46 years old with a 3 year child to support plus mortgage to pay and I can't take on anymore debt at this time in my life and was wondering if the statute of limitations applies here.
