I have defaulted on my student loan and it went to the CRA this fall. There is now a lien on my income tax. I made very little last year and this return will make or break me. I have been reading up and heard talk of a financial questionnaire that could lead to a partial return. At this point I would be happy with anything.
When I contacted CRA, I was told to file my taxes and then I can apply. My quesion is do I file and hope for the best? Or do I get this resolved first? To clarify, will filing make me lose all chances of getting something back?

The reason they tell you to file is so that they can grab it and then make it even more difficult for you to get all or some of it back. LOL If you are in hardship and can demonstrate that, and that you require this return to pay urgent necessity expenses, and that by them taking it it will cause worse financial crises, then you have a shot.
You and anything you provide will be scrutinized heavily.  If you can;t get past it - get help. THe CFW Group can help you but this is a service and there is a fee.

Good luck!

I understand that a fee would be involved. I am prepared to pay if I can get help. What is the next step?

Well the good news it isn't expensive. It's $99.00 for this, and can be done by telephone and email. Will take about 30-40 minutes.

If you want to schedule in contact Heather at 902-861-1210. If you get voice mail just leave a detailed message and your contact information so she or one of us can get back to you.

Is there a time frame where I am suppose to hear back? I have both called and emailed and am still waiting on a reply.
Should I call again or is it just the time of year?
Thank you,

I did not receive your message or email. Call 902-861-1210 and if you get voicemail, leave a message with your contact #. It is busy around here yes, but there are others you can speak with besides me.

Try 866-239-7889 and leave a message as well.
