Hello. This is directed to Johnny at CFW group (but any additional member help/advice/info) greatly appreciated!
I have just been contacted by CCA (a collection agency) regarding my defaulted (not proud of the fact) student loans with Royal Bank of Canada.
According to the collection agent I spoke with earlier today I haven't made a payment toward my student loans since sometime in 2002 (again not proud of the fact).
I have a discharged bankruptcy (2003) on my record but of course my student loans were not included.
What exactly is 'stats barred' and how would I find out if it might apply to my situation?
I live in Ontario (all student loans were for study in Ontario). My last student loan was for the 1995/1996 academic year.
Thanks! Appreciate any/all help.

In the case of debt, Statute of limitations, or "statute barred" simply means that no action or proceedings can be taken to collect on a debt after a prescribed period of time. In your case it may apply. However, bankruptices throw a huge monkey wrench in limitation issues. Each case is unique. Do you want me to do a limitation exam for you or do you want to spend some time with one of us to teach you how to do it for yourself?

Just found out my loans are not stats barred. I'll need some professional help as I am scared and overwhelmed. Thank for your reply Johnny. I really appreciate it.

Who told you your loans are not stats barred? If it was a collection agency, then I wouldn't believe them...
