Hello....

I have a hefty national loan from 2004 and had been on interest relief until I sold up and moved to the UK in 2007. I had hopes of making enough to start paying off some of my loan but the recession hit and life here has been financially hard. I am now married and have a baby (no intention of moving back) and again life is a financial struggle. We are in deficit everymonth and their is nothing left over to contribute to my $26K loan which is ever growing with interest! My loan is now with HRSDC REMITTANCE - they only send me my painful statements but never anything else.

My queries are the following:

1. As I am living abroad, what can they do to me? I obviously don't want anything horrible to happen financially to my new family.
2. Can they (would they) sue me abroad?
3. Can they send my debt to a collection agency over in the UK?
4. Is there a statue of limitations on the loan. Does it get "forgiven" after a certain point?

We have no money and I am feeling sick with the growing interest. I just need some advice and help.

Many thanks in advance! x
