I am from Ontario have an old loan from 1995 which I have been paying back to this day.  I still have a considerable amount left.  They are now clawing back my tax refunds.  Today an acquaintance told me that her loans were all forgiven many years ago but did not say how.  She is not disabled from what I can see.
 
1.  How did she do this?
2.  Is there any loan forgiveness program available now after all of these years?
