I'm dealing with an extremely aggresive collection agent. I faxed the agency recently asking them to correspond by mail only. [a) Should I send it registered mail also?]. With the help of this site, I listed a major privacy issue violation by the agent, plus several more(ie multiple attempts to contact per day,+6).
      b) Will this get them to stop(temporarily) and return my file to the financial institution. I imagine sending it to a new agency.
      c) Can they proceed, legally against me, if they've broken the Consumer Protection Act?
Should I complain further:
      d) Should I complain to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs?
      e) Should I complain to the Privacy Commissioner?
      f) Should I complain to the Financial Institutions Ombudsman's Office?
From reading this site, the collection agencies biggest threat is the ultimate fear of suing you. Theoretically, if we went to court I could countersue. Hence, any future threats of suing would be mute; and therefore my thought that their gonna ship the file back.
P.S. This site is great!!! :)
