Dear Johnny / Anyone,

Horror stories anyone? Before I plunge in I need to know the worst case scenario.

I'm considering contacting a collection agency - before they find me - to show good faith. I'm broke, jobless and have mouths to feed, so it's a bad time to open Pandora's box, but I need to clear my name (for some jobs I'm applying to).

Anyone?

P.S. Can we pay the government directly? Or for old loans like mine is it collection agencies or nothing? Forgive me if much of this has been asked already, I'm new. Thanks everyone!

Knowing the nature of collection agencies, I would not initiate contact at this time. They will just harass you and perhaps abuse you.

Best bet is to talk to Johnny...
