hi i just started dealing with collectcorp here in ontario , they phoned me so i finally phoned them back and talked to them , my payments for td visa were snall i gave them 25.00 each month to td and they gave me to collectcorp. i am new to this, they told my payments were not high enough that the bank was gonna do somnething, i told he i had 75.00 a month to give them . they said not enough and was told some lawyer lingo that i did not understand . i asked him to explian and he would not , just told me i suffer the consaquennes. it is a 3040.00 td visa bill . they told me they were not a collection agency . i am so confused , can they go into my account ? garnish my wages . even thou i am still paying td visa each month , not a lot . . i got fed up with the guy and hung up. what are my rights , i have the cheques made out for the next year . . they dont wanna take anything . i was ready to mail it today by register ing it . i feel over wheleved at the moment . i just dont know what to do . what can they can do. does anyone know ? are they a collection agency or not ? they say no .

I think you might have misunderstood what they said. Collectcorp's favorite line is actually "We are not a financing institution". I've heard several agents tell me that line while expressing their disastifaction with my small payment amounts ($50 per month). They mean to imply that they are not willing to put up with you sending them small payments.
The truth is they must accept whatever payment amount you can afford to send them. One thing that everyone here should keep in mind is that they should not take what they hear personally. Recognize that these agents are essentially reading from a script. If you get enough calls from them, you will recognize the exact same things being repeated over and over again. At that point there is essentially nothing to be gained from a conversation with them. They will be wasting their time and you will be wasting yours, listening to their pathetic attempts at trying to ruin your day and make you feel guilty.
