I have a question... if anyone knows.... how many times can a collection agency call you in a day/week?   At what point is it harassment?  I have been getting calls from NCO, from the 1-780, the 1-866 and a private name/number numerous times a day!!!   I am debating whether to block the calls, it is that bad!   Anyone else have this problem?

If it is a guaranteed Canada student loan, collecvtors are only permitted to establish contact with you by phone once per day, but no more than 5 times per week. That is a directive (you can find those directives on my website forum www.cfwgroup.ca/forum.

Would you like some help with this so you do not have to stress out about this issue and get the matter under control?

FYI - if the debt is not a CSL, then collection agencies are permitted to call you up to twice per day untl contact is established. However, calls that occur with such frequency as to constitute harrassment is a problem. If they call you daily, this is normal. If they call you three times per day every day and behave in a manner that is unprofessional, this would be harrassment.

Hey!

I got myself an unlisted phone number and I never got bothered by any collections agency again and it cost a little more but you have peace and quiet...Get an unlisterd phone number and only give the numbers to people you trust only...Good luck

My friendly neighborhood agents don't have my number because I've moved to a few different cities since my loans defaulted (for work, not to avoid them). I always call them from a payphone, so that's what shows up on their caller ID. They know I do it too, and it really bugs them.

these collection agencies need to be harnessed, a guy Anthony emp #4144 from Allied Collections in Toronto has been calling my daughter constantly, even though she has offered money within her means, he refuses anything but what he says, he is rude aggressive and a "squirm", he hung up on me tonight as a result of what I said to him...aweeee...anybody know anything about Anthony let me know, a concerned Dad

Holy Smokes!!  I can't believe "Anthony" is harassing someone else...he is IMPOSSIBLE!!  I can't even begin to tell you the abuse I have suffered from this guy.  From day one he has treated me in the most reprehensible fashion.   I have been keeping copious notes, and have been doing some research on this topic.  I am a lawyer and so am pulling together a harassment case against Allied, and Anthony is the star...I will let you know if anything comes of it.  So far, I have learned that his tactics are contrary to the law, and the "Harmonized List of Prohibited Collection Practices".  This guy is abusive to my spouse, continually calls me at work, even though he was advised not to on numerous occasions. He calls my work cell number even though, again, on numerous occasions I have told him I am not permitted to take his calls on this line.....In any event, the starting point is to send a registered letter to them indicating to only contact in writing and provide an address.
