Greetings,
My name is John. In 1998 I applied for a student loan to attend studies at a college in Edmonton, AB. I was approved for both a federal student loan and a provincial student loan, the combined total was approx $3000.00. The portions of these loans given to me to cover living expenses etc. was approx $1200.00. I had attended the "orientation class" and that was the only time I attended a class. I had been incarcerated and had not taken advantage of any programs to ammend the debt while I was incarcerated, as in applying for "interest relief" or even simply withdrawing myself from studies and subsequently having the tuition returned to CSL. Ultimately I was withdrawn by the College, assumingly by reason of attendance. During my incarceration and subsequennt release 7-8mths later, I have not heard anything from CSL/Bank etc. regarding my attendance, debt etc. This silence by all parties involved continued for approx 1-2yrs. Nor have I made a single payment to CSL/Collection company. I simply cannot. I then started getting calls at my parents house in British Columbia. The calss their seized for a period of 2-3yrs or so. Eventually By a miracle I started getting into talks with a collection agency (approx 4yrs after) and they continued for awhile, then seized. now, 2006 I have been victimized by intimidation and harrassment by arrogant collectors. Does anyone have any advice in accordance with any aspect of my situation? please help.
Regards,
John
