Hello, In 1995 I decided as a single parent to try to get an education to get off welfare. In early 1997 I quit university as I was not well. It took a few years to figure out I have MS and RA (multiple sclerosis and rhuematoid arthritis). I have cognitive problems and lots of other disabilities to go with these illnesses. I have since remarried. This past week I started getting calls from Global Collection agency. The *cough* man there said "You will pay every penny of this debt". I told him I was disabled totally. I was told in 2000 I was totally unemployable by my neurologist. Since then I've gotten more ill. The man from Global said that I have credit (I am married) and I was to use credit to pay off my loan. He asked what I wanted to transfer my loan to. I told him not. I told him, yes, I am married, I have credit but I couldn't afford that much. He said "A HA! You are married, BINGO!" I told him my husband was not responsible for my debts as we didn't even know each other then. He then got obnoxious like he does and refused to let me speak. I hung up on him...again. He wants me to get a loan to pay off this loan. I have never made a payment on my student loan because I was on welfare and then a measly disability pension of 57.00 a month (My husband has a pension so I was penalized ) . Now I have NO income and I told him I was sick. These calls are making me much more ill. I cannot deal with this person. Please tell me what my options are. Thank you so much.

In you situation I would contact John Leblanc of the CFW group.
They are not suppose to suggest you take out loans to pay back your debt and they know darn well your husband is not responsible for it they are just trying to scare you because they think you "might" be able to get money from him.
I think a disability kit is something that would be good in your case as from what you have described you are not going to be able to work.

Hello Hunter2. Thank you so much for your help. I figured he was trying to scare me but I wasn't totally sure of what he is capable of either. He's such a nasty person. I'll call CFW and see if they can help. I just feel sick every time the phone rings now. Thanks again for your advice. I really appreciate it. Have a wonderful day.
