Okay, I'm completely on the verge of a breakdown here...  I have outstanding CSL and OSL and I was making payments until I lost my job.  I'm now at home with my two children (one born only a month ago) and my husband makes very little money.  We live in the US and I'm now a US citizen. 

CBCL has my loan file.  After reading around here, I was under the impression that they are no longer handling student loans as of last August.  And I had been sending post dated checks, which was also a bad idea.  So, I stopped payment on my checks and waited to hear from them.  I also wrote a letter asking for clarification on my account, etc., etc.

Well, a VERY rude woman from CBCL called today and really laid into me.  I told her that I had stopped payment and had sent a letter asking for clarification on my account.  She went CRAZY.  She laid into me.  I told her she was being very rude and then she went off completely and told me that I owe everything right now - immediately. I told her that this was not possible.  She said that I was then immediately in default.  I said "Well, then, come on after me."  I'm honestly not sure what else I can do at this point.

Since I'm living in the US and a US citizen, does this mean I can never even travel back to Canada to visit family?  Will the judgment they receive against me be in Canadian courts or US courts?  What is going to happen to me now?  I'm afraid I completely messed myself up by letting this exceptionally rude woman get to me...
