All right, I've had enough.  I feel that I have exhausted all of my options and I contacted a lawyer yesterday.  I don't see myself as an isolated case.  Anyone who has been legally wronged by CBCL, and/or feel that they have been unjustly placed into collectons then contact me and share you story.

Hi Nada it's under the student loan action forum.  Can we get some details and know if we have similar cases.  Who or what do you feel sent you to collections unfairly?  Illegally might be a better term.  How are we supposed to contact you?

Nada..you are not alone..there is a letter to the editor on Student Loans printed in the online edition of The Canadian National Newspaper, might be worthwhile reading.

Well, actually I find that disturbing... (the fact that I am not alone) besides, I am not concerned with being alone, I am concerned with making some progress.  Thanks

Nada, I'm in full agreement. There seems to be a prevalent view that lawsuits are doomed to failure. I don't agree.

Even in Canada, if you can prove that someone caused you damages by their actions and such actions were illegal or negligent, you're entilted to compensation.

If you're going to do it, there might be some help here. Bear in mind though, that most people are here just to get their own problem dealt with and move on. There's not a lot of people who have solved their own problems and stick around to help others.

Let us know what we can do.

Yes, we would be entitled to compensation... the only problem is that it would cost around $200,000 to get through the court process!

My masters program was misrepresented as a two year program, when it was a three year program.

All legal experts I spoke to quoted me a figure of $60,000 to get to court and another $100,000 if they appealed...

As for a class action lawsuit the requirements are very specific. About two years ago this was investigated, but everyone on the site found that each of our cases was slightly different meaning that we wouldnt qualify as a class action suit.

If anyone can research this further, we can continue to investigate...

of course, I'd really like to see a lot of us have our day in court.

Mark
