I'm in it for about 10,000 and counting. I'm a salaried worker at 50, 000 and I support two children at the tune of about 1000 per month.

Collections refuses to respect this to the point of saying that I am a unfit father who rather shrug his student loan responsibilities. I'm not able to pay the full payments per month, but the company is not willing to provide me with monthly statement either so that I can make sure that the payments I send in are actually being applied directly to the loan.

Is this legal???

Can they also sue me when I have to give most of my income in parental support???

Nice name---and welcome.....to the site....

You could try a couple things:  1.  Try speaking to a supervisor of the CA and ask for a monthly statement saying that you would like to further some more money, although...are hesitant given that you are unsure if the payments are actually being applied to the loan amount....and when such monthly statement is provided you will be more than happy to make a payment-- 2.  Perhaps the creditor of your loan has information regarding payments made....you can let them know of the mistreatment being given by the CA and how you would like confirmation of payments received.

Don't let them treat you like a subhuman being--you are not one!!  Take control of the conversation...stay informed of what they can and can't do!!!

If you are making payments--the CA should have no business referring you for legal action.  Sometimes it is scare tactic...to get you to pay more....

So it is better to ignore these tactics or file a complaint with HRDC and Provincial Consumer Affairs against these ways of conducting business?

Better to ignore??  I would say no.  For the complaint to have any punch it's best when there is proof of such misconduct....that's where it gets tricky--the CAs cover themselves very well....but sometimes you can catch them at their dirty little games by catching them on tape by recording their misconduct.  The more you have on these people the better your chances that something will be done--most likely a scolding for the CA and maybe even better -- their liscence may be pulled (the agency liscence).

The managers are often well aware of the tactics that their employees use...  That is the sad part!

There is info. on the homepage for filing complaints under one of the tabs at the top of the page...can't remember which one right now.

I wish you success in whatever you choose to do!

Maybe one of the former CAs will have some good info. for you....
