Well, I can relate to some of your problems most definitely. You don't mention if you have any dependents, but I have a wife and 4 kids, and make quite a bit less than you do.

From what you have said, I would recommend the first step you take is put together a budget for yourself. That way you can see areas that might / could need to be adjusted. I recommend this one:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/TC010233411033.aspx?CategoryID=CT011377171033 - http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/TC010233411033.a spx?CategoryID=CT011377171033

Then you can see where your money is going. (mind you, you do need excel for that template).

Your situation might seem desperate right now, but it could always be worse. It can be worked out.

You should talk to Johnny...I mean, you do make 50 grand a year, which is probably twice as much as anybody I know...It suggests to me that you need direction rather than more income. Money management is not a natural thing that comes with more income...it shoud be taught, like any other life skill.

First things first though...don't impose a schedule on yourself. That will only make things worse...Nothing more self-destructive than thinking, "I'm 35, I should own a house now!" Says who? Is there a rule book to life? You'll just stress yourself out and make yourself miserable when you think you don't measure up...And I know too many people who stuck stubbornly to schedules...and they don't seem any happier than me -- 43, on the poverty line, not a homeowner, between jobs...

So be kinder to yourself...and contact Johnny Leblanc (check the home page). He does crisis intervention but also education.

Wish I knew then what I know now...

Poly
