I guess this isn't *really* urgent, but I suppose this is the best place to post this:

I'm writing on behalf of my partner who received a notice from EOS Canada about a "final notice" about paying off a debt (we assume it's part of her OSAP student loan).  There are a couple issues though:

1) this is actually the first letter she's received, probably because they were being mailed to the wrong address.  She only got this letter when she went to visit her old roommates last week.

2) she is willing to pay off the debt in full (in between savings and taking out a bank loan), however, we've heard horror stories of EOS/Nordon continue to harass for money even after debt is paid, and also continued negative impacts on credit ratings.

Is the a proper way to pay off the debt so that it's closed forever?  Should the money be sent via a lawyer so it's "certified?"  Should the money be paid to OSAP directly, or through the collection agency?

She showed me her latest credit report, and it has her CDA STUDENT LOANS PR balance listed as $0.00.  They've been taking her income tax returns pretty much since she graduated in 08 - and the only debt that appears to exist is the EOS collection account.  So, I'm assuming once she pays it off, she's in the clear?

Many thanks in advance!
