This website is a testimony to the problems Canadian Student Loan borrowers experienced from approximately 1996 to 2008 and until their loans were paid off.

The privatization of the Student Loans system by the Chretien and Martin Liberal governments broke the system and defaulted thousands of borrowers who were trying to pay their loans. There were even stories of suicide due to the harassment of borrowers.

Read the report that I prepared back in 2007 here. Canada Student Loans-The Need for Change Fortunately the new Conservative government at the time revamped the program and fixed the system for new borrowers, but borrowers under the previous program were left with ruined credit and continued harassment from debt collectors.

I call on the Canadian Government to apologize to the borrowers affected by this fiasco and make amends.

Unfortunately the Liberal government is again clobbering the Education system with their changes to International Student Visas. Yes, there's a problem, but instead of a well thought out plan, they have pulled the emergency brake on the train causing a derailment. This has introduced unprecedented instability for both private and public education institutions who serve both international and local students.

Universities have been forced to cancel programs and layoff hundreds if not thousands of full-time and contract instructors.

Again, the Liberal government has messed up the education environment.

Those of you who are dealing with NCO Financial Services out of Ontario regarding your Ontario student loan, please be on the alert for collectors calling and using excessive force in their efforts to recover debt. There have been cases arising whereas collectors from this firm are advising Ontario student loan borrowers that they do not have to deal with anyone that you may have helping you cope with the harsh and often abusive collection methods. If you are being mistreated or abused by this group, we invite you to contact us. (There is one collector that is being mentioned by people named Mr. Bash, or Baksh, whose first name might be Naz. Keep your ears peeled for calls and aggressive activities by this one in particular)

If you require help dealing with them because they are being unreasonable or abusive, the Ontario govenrment apparently has a special consent document that they must issue you. You may contact us and we will help you get this particular form without interference by the collection agency. As you know, collection agencies are under tremendous pressure as of recently because of the controversial issues surrounding their practices. It is important that student loan borrowers protect themselves at all times when dealing with these organizations.

To reach us, you can call toll free 866-239-7889.

Hey Johnny,

My name is Nathan MacDonald and I am having some problems with NCO.  I'm from PEI and I'm dealing with a lady from Edmonton.  I have been making payments every month, and I thought that everything we cool.  I received a call today saying that because I have a credit card my balance must be payed in full.  She told me that because I am in debt, I'm not allowed to take on further debt (which means having a credit card).  I'm rather lucky in that I own a rather low amount, to them anyway, but  I don't have enough to  pay off the balance.

Does she have the right to do this?  I felt like I was being bullied on the phone and  I told her that I was going to have a family friend who is a Lawyer give her a call regarding this.  She then became very hostile and said that if I didn't give her my banking info and set up a payment date that the settlement price, which was a couple hundred less the the full balance would be taken away and I would have to pay the full amount.

Can anyone give me some advice?   Thanks for taking the time to read this.  L

Love Peace and Chicken Grease.
Nathan
