This website is a testimony to the problems Canadian Student Loan borrowers experienced from approximately 1996 to 2008 and until their loans were paid off.

The privatization of the Student Loans system by the Chretien and Martin Liberal governments broke the system and defaulted thousands of borrowers who were trying to pay their loans. There were even stories of suicide due to the harassment of borrowers.

Read the report that I prepared back in 2007 here. Canada Student Loans-The Need for Change Fortunately the new Conservative government at the time revamped the program and fixed the system for new borrowers, but borrowers under the previous program were left with ruined credit and continued harassment from debt collectors.

I call on the Canadian Government to apologize to the borrowers affected by this fiasco and make amends.

Unfortunately the Liberal government is again clobbering the Education system with their changes to International Student Visas. Yes, there's a problem, but instead of a well thought out plan, they have pulled the emergency brake on the train causing a derailment. This has introduced unprecedented instability for both private and public education institutions who serve both international and local students.

Universities have been forced to cancel programs and layoff hundreds if not thousands of full-time and contract instructors.

Again, the Liberal government has messed up the education environment.

I took out a student loan in the early 2000s with the intention of getting a degree and a job.

Life got in the way and I was unable to complete my studies. I had a child with a severe disability and was unable to return to my studies or go back to work. I paid off the provincial portion of my loan but the payments were too large for the federal portion and I simply couldn't afford to pay.

After several years I started to get my life back on track but was still not in the position to pay this loan or the substantial interest that had accrued.

I believed the loan to be either statute barred or close to it so after spending countless hours reading posts from this site, I decided to call Johnny Leblanc. I was a little apprehensive about calling him because of a few negative blog posts I came across but since the positive posts on this site far outweighed the negative ones,  I decided to go for it.

I found Johnny to be honest and knowledgeable from our first phone call in August 2014. He took on my case and warned me there were no guarantees and it could be a long road.

I emailed him every few months over the next 2.5 years or so whenever I received threatening letters or phone calls or when I wanted updates on my case. He always got back to me.

Just over a month ago after a long wait and a lot of work on his part my loan was finally confirmed written off. The statute of limitations had applied in my case and this long nightmare was finally over.

I'm so grateful for Johhny Leblanc. A huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders. I strongly recommend him to anyone who needs his services. His fees are fair and you won't find a more competent advocate.

Thanks again Johhny.
