This website is a testimony to the problems Canadian Student Loan borrowers experienced from approximately 1996 to 2008 and until their loans were paid off.

The privatization of the Student Loans system by the Chretien and Martin Liberal governments broke the system and defaulted thousands of borrowers who were trying to pay their loans. There were even stories of suicide due to the harassment of borrowers.

Read the report that I prepared back in 2007 here. Canada Student Loans-The Need for Change Fortunately the new Conservative government at the time revamped the program and fixed the system for new borrowers, but borrowers under the previous program were left with ruined credit and continued harassment from debt collectors.

I call on the Canadian Government to apologize to the borrowers affected by this fiasco and make amends.

Unfortunately the Liberal government is again clobbering the Education system with their changes to International Student Visas. Yes, there's a problem, but instead of a well thought out plan, they have pulled the emergency brake on the train causing a derailment. This has introduced unprecedented instability for both private and public education institutions who serve both international and local students.

Universities have been forced to cancel programs and layoff hundreds if not thousands of full-time and contract instructors.

Again, the Liberal government has messed up the education environment.

I was discharged 3 years ago from a bankruptcy it took me 5 years to finish (I started in November of 2001). I never really paid much attention to the paperwork, just the part that said I was discharged...but I was looking it over today and was wondering what the heck everything means--unfortunately, my trustee is no longer in business (is that a good sign or a bad sign?) so I can't call them to clarify everything....

So, my question...on the claims register portion, there are seven listings. It says "amount of claim", "proof filed" (all yes), "amount filed", "claim status" (all yes), "rank" (all blank), and "proxy filed" (some yes, some no).

Can someone demystify this for me? Are these all the debts that I would have had included, because there are definitely student loans listed...I don't reasonably expect that the would be included but dare I dream? What is the meaning of this odd little paper?

just take it to the office of the superintendant (sp?) of bankruptcy. they'll clarify it and can even check thier records if need be.

there should be one in your city if it is any size....if not .....there should be one close.

if not.....just call some random trustee.....they'll go over it all.....for a fee i'm betting. the osb might know who took over your trustee's caseload since he probably had open files at the time he ceased operation.
