This website is a testimony to the problems Canadian Student Loan borrowers experienced from approximately 1996 to 2008 and until their loans were paid off.

The privatization of the Student Loans system by the Chretien and Martin Liberal governments broke the system and defaulted thousands of borrowers who were trying to pay their loans. There were even stories of suicide due to the harassment of borrowers.

Read the report that I prepared back in 2007 here. Canada Student Loans-The Need for Change Fortunately the new Conservative government at the time revamped the program and fixed the system for new borrowers, but borrowers under the previous program were left with ruined credit and continued harassment from debt collectors.

I call on the Canadian Government to apologize to the borrowers affected by this fiasco and make amends.

Unfortunately the Liberal government is again clobbering the Education system with their changes to International Student Visas. Yes, there's a problem, but instead of a well thought out plan, they have pulled the emergency brake on the train causing a derailment. This has introduced unprecedented instability for both private and public education institutions who serve both international and local students.

Universities have been forced to cancel programs and layoff hundreds if not thousands of full-time and contract instructors.

Again, the Liberal government has messed up the education environment.

This is my first itme here on this website.I am looking for some help and support with these guys.It seems as though everyone has the issues.I have been recieving calls from allied consultants I never answer my phone when I see them calling. They seem to be so rude and they never leave their names when they leave a message.I had one girl who surprise surprise never left her name and it was the third call I recieved from them and she had said"This is allied consultants calling yet again" and it was her tone that bothered me the most it was horrible..I am now going to speak to a debt counsellor tomorrow morning and I am goingt o try and call Natasha and see about what can be done because right now I am in a positioin where my husband lost his job before christmas and is working elsewhere but our month has been buggered up because bills are late with the switchover of jobs and the income that we had before is no longer there it is much lower per month and bcause my husband was self employed we could manage our the taxes he has to put aside so that we could pay our debts. Now we no longer have that luxury and I have been in this position before and I was allowed to make payments but I dont think it was allied consultants that I dealt with bcause whoever I was speaking to last year was very very nice and had no problems with me making payments what is with these guys saying no you cant.I have never heard of that before.Does anyone know if Natasha will deal with western canada? In any case I will call her and let her know my situation and hopefully she will help me with advice and set me up with payments cause its not a lot that I owe and I can do it in two payments but not all at once I also have children that I need to be able to feed and care for...can anyone please give me some help and advice the stress is making me sick.
thank you a bunch...I feel a little better just being able to vent a little.

Be careful about what "debt management" program you participate in. There are lots of so called not for profit credit counselling services out there that keep a huge commission of your payments. Best to talk to Johnny and see what he can do for you.
