This website is a testimony to the problems Canadian Student Loan borrowers experienced from approximately 1996 to 2008 and until their loans were paid off.

The privatization of the Student Loans system by the Chretien and Martin Liberal governments broke the system and defaulted thousands of borrowers who were trying to pay their loans. There were even stories of suicide due to the harassment of borrowers.

Read the report that I prepared back in 2007 here. Canada Student Loans-The Need for Change Fortunately the new Conservative government at the time revamped the program and fixed the system for new borrowers, but borrowers under the previous program were left with ruined credit and continued harassment from debt collectors.

I call on the Canadian Government to apologize to the borrowers affected by this fiasco and make amends.

Unfortunately the Liberal government is again clobbering the Education system with their changes to International Student Visas. Yes, there's a problem, but instead of a well thought out plan, they have pulled the emergency brake on the train causing a derailment. This has introduced unprecedented instability for both private and public education institutions who serve both international and local students.

Universities have been forced to cancel programs and layoff hundreds if not thousands of full-time and contract instructors.

Again, the Liberal government has messed up the education environment.

My Hubby had a csl back in 1993 that was actually put into collections when he was still in school....he was sponsered by ei the following year, and it was supposed to be held until he graduated, but the bank put it into colletions.  anyways, it has been 12 years, they did call for a while, we moved, and they tried a few times but no calls for quite some time now, they are phoning and buggin me for mine.  Mine is over 14 years (i know bad, bad bad) mine was putinto collections in error as well (the bank demanded a $20 pmt or it was going to collections..even though i filled out interest relief as I was not working, my H was going to school and we had no money)  i have made payments off and on, i happened to look on my credit file and it was not on there? what does this mean? but next day i got a call from a collector (do they find out when you look your credit up on trans union???

My question is how do you find out if its stats barred without raising an alert to the collectors...he has had his income tax refunds gone to the csl, he hasn't done taxes for 3 years and i did it through a po box so they couldn't trace us.

also how much will it cost to have johnny help you?  how do i get a hold of him?

check the homepage, there is info there about johnny and his rates.  his fee many vary depending on how much he has to get involved.

if there has been no voluntary payment for six years, it is likely that you are stats barred.  having his refunds seized is not considered voluntary.

and the CA probably has a friend who works at equifax or trans union who called the minute you pulled your report - happens frequently

professionals built the titanic but amateurs built the ark...

crispy,

When I requested my credit report from Equifax, I had the CA back onto me within a couple days when they had not been bothering me for quite some time.  I thought...how odd is this!!! As soon as I requested my credit history it's like a big red flag went up somewhere.

I checked out some things on this site and I think Johnny posted somewhere about "credit seeking" and how some companies/agecies are technologically set up to have this flagged.  Don't know how...they just do.

Hello All,

Isn't it the case when you request your credit bureau you have to give an updated address for them to send it to you. Once your new address is on there then all the creditors know where to find you and start the calls and or legal proceedings! Nice isn't it.

The other thing is is that if there is a wrong date reported on the bureau and you think your loan may be stats barred according to your actual default date how do you debate this without acknowledging your debt and thereby making your loan no longer stats barred? ie. According to me and my default-it is 6 years this sept since i defaulted on my sask loans..but my credit bureau says that i last made a pmt 3 years ago! I never once made a pmt on that loan-it is completely false information.
Help anyone!
