This website is a testimony to the problems Canadian Student Loan borrowers experienced from approximately 1996 to 2008 and until their loans were paid off.

The privatization of the Student Loans system by the Chretien and Martin Liberal governments broke the system and defaulted thousands of borrowers who were trying to pay their loans. There were even stories of suicide due to the harassment of borrowers.

Read the report that I prepared back in 2007 here. Canada Student Loans-The Need for Change Fortunately the new Conservative government at the time revamped the program and fixed the system for new borrowers, but borrowers under the previous program were left with ruined credit and continued harassment from debt collectors.

I call on the Canadian Government to apologize to the borrowers affected by this fiasco and make amends.

Unfortunately the Liberal government is again clobbering the Education system with their changes to International Student Visas. Yes, there's a problem, but instead of a well thought out plan, they have pulled the emergency brake on the train causing a derailment. This has introduced unprecedented instability for both private and public education institutions who serve both international and local students.

Universities have been forced to cancel programs and layoff hundreds if not thousands of full-time and contract instructors.

Again, the Liberal government has messed up the education environment.

Hi,

I noticed something with regards to a collections item i have. On a report from last year I see the following:

A collection was reported assigned in 10/06 by Nordon....
date of last activity 09/06

On a report I just pulled recently I see the following for the same collections matter:
A collection was reported assigned in 02/12 by debt control agency
date of last activity 04/08

Why did the date of last activity change if I didnt contact them?
The amout owing also went up with DCA.
Lastly, the creditor reference name changed slightly, although I know that it is the same debt, can this creditor reference be changed without notifying me?
Are collections items purged after 6 years or 7 years of date of last activity? Or is it date assigned?

I would appreciate your input on this. Btw im in Ontario. Thank you in advance.

Their activity dates are just dates showing when there was general activity. Limitation issue timelines and those activity dates are not part of any credfit bureau reporting process.

Thank you for the reply Johnny.
Would the assigned date be the area of concern? I believe this should no longer be on the report but the assigned date has been "refreshed"

Also, I was reviewing your site and you might hear from me shortly regarding my report and my osap related issues. Perhaps you might be able to help me out.
