This website is a testimony to the problems Canadian Student Loan borrowers experienced from approximately 1996 to 2008 and until their loans were paid off.

The privatization of the Student Loans system by the Chretien and Martin Liberal governments broke the system and defaulted thousands of borrowers who were trying to pay their loans. There were even stories of suicide due to the harassment of borrowers.

Read the report that I prepared back in 2007 here. Canada Student Loans-The Need for Change Fortunately the new Conservative government at the time revamped the program and fixed the system for new borrowers, but borrowers under the previous program were left with ruined credit and continued harassment from debt collectors.

I call on the Canadian Government to apologize to the borrowers affected by this fiasco and make amends.

Unfortunately the Liberal government is again clobbering the Education system with their changes to International Student Visas. Yes, there's a problem, but instead of a well thought out plan, they have pulled the emergency brake on the train causing a derailment. This has introduced unprecedented instability for both private and public education institutions who serve both international and local students.

Universities have been forced to cancel programs and layoff hundreds if not thousands of full-time and contract instructors.

Again, the Liberal government has messed up the education environment.

Hello! If anyone can help me with some info/advice I would really appreciate it. I am currently on Ontario Works (welfare). I have just been approved for ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program). I am being pressured by a collection agency (CBV) to make payments toward my CSL. Does anyone know what the rights of someone receiving welfare and then ODSP are in relation to CSL's? I was thinking of offering a $20.00 a month payment (not even enough to cover interest of CSL). My income is so low I cannot afford any more. Are they obliged to accept my offer? (I am providing them with proof of income). What happens if they refuse? Any help greatly appreciated.

If you can't pay then you can't pay. Whatever the collector says to you otherwise is harmless noise. Just stand your ground.
If you can afford to give them $20 per month then do so, if you can do it. If nt, don't let anyone belittle or harass you.
If they come at you and you feel you can't handle it, contact me and I will remedy it for you.

Hi Johnny. Thanks for your reply. I can't handle it at all. I'm not sure what you can do (please do not take that as a personal attack) for me but I'm willing to take the chance. I am scared and overwhelmed right now and I need honest professional help with this. I do not know how I would remit payment to you as I do not have a credit card, cheque book so I can't write a cheque to you or a PayPal account. If you have any other methods that are acceptable to you kindly let me know asap. Also, please let me know what all this would involve and how much it would cost me. Thank you very much.

No offense taken. LOL We accept payment any way you feel comfortabe. Online bank, e transfer, walk in to the bank, etc. Up to you. The cost is low - anywhere from $85.00 $150.00. If you want long-term help, then we can negotite a long-term service if you don;t want to deal with it on your own at all because of fear.
My expertise is in these sorts of mediations and relationship developments. Most collectors dislike me and usualy cringe, but it is not the collectors that concern me, it is the ones who hire them. So, rest assured.
