This website is a testimony to the problems Canadian Student Loan borrowers experienced from approximately 1996 to 2008 and until their loans were paid off.

The privatization of the Student Loans system by the Chretien and Martin Liberal governments broke the system and defaulted thousands of borrowers who were trying to pay their loans. There were even stories of suicide due to the harassment of borrowers.

Read the report that I prepared back in 2007 here. Canada Student Loans-The Need for Change Fortunately the new Conservative government at the time revamped the program and fixed the system for new borrowers, but borrowers under the previous program were left with ruined credit and continued harassment from debt collectors.

I call on the Canadian Government to apologize to the borrowers affected by this fiasco and make amends.

Unfortunately the Liberal government is again clobbering the Education system with their changes to International Student Visas. Yes, there's a problem, but instead of a well thought out plan, they have pulled the emergency brake on the train causing a derailment. This has introduced unprecedented instability for both private and public education institutions who serve both international and local students.

Universities have been forced to cancel programs and layoff hundreds if not thousands of full-time and contract instructors.

Again, the Liberal government has messed up the education environment.

Ok, so, I'm in the same boat as some of you. I'm receiving reeeeally unprofessional and insulting calls from these Allied Consultant people. I don't even take their calls anymore, what's the point really, you never say the right thing. They just wanna bully people and have no real recourse aside from name calling.
How can we complain? Or request correspondence thru email or something? I mean, these people must be miserable all the time and personally, I don't argue with strangers who have no interest in conversing...they're like a dog who can't help barking, no matter what you say they just do it instinctively.

any help? suggestions?
thanks, stay strong, life's too short to worry about money, just ignore these people if you can't pay. It's just aggravation trying to reason with rudeness.

If you have no means of paying them then there is no point in taking their calls.  We used to deal with Allied and we didn't take their calls.  Apparently we have been passed on to Federal Credit.  We don't take their calls either.  They believe the most  likely way to get you to pay is too be rude and  to  try to intimidate you.  They are commission based and they want their check.   They are going to use almost any means to try to get you to pay up and meet their quota as well as get a nice fat commission check.
