It occurred to me that while I was still paying off my Manitoba Student Loan I was usually getting every year a nice chunk of reduction on my provincial loan called the Millenial Scholarship.

I recall at one point having something like 8,000 taken off. This was without application or petition on my part. It was why at the end of my BA I only had to pay the province like $2500.

But then the feds don't have any such thing. They have debt relief programs you can apply for, but no such thing as what the MB government has going with the Millenial Scholarship. If you're disabled or suffering destitution, they generally seem to have some aid available, but why not provide reductions in the form of scholarships?

I keep hoping to see grants and so on where the debt can have significant reductions to it, but no such thing.
