Has anyone else had problems with these guys? The Royal Bank Student Loans has sicced them on me for defaulting on my loans. There are many issue in volved, but these guys refuse to take payments....the bank will not deal with me directly...and I have been harrassed to the max...3 - 5 phone calls some days and even weekends. They have called co workers, spoken to my wife and stepdaughter and repeatedly misrepresented themselves as "The Royal Bank"...they will not communicate by mail, and will not accept payments. They are scum of the earth!

Oh my Gosh!!!!!!!

I know what you mean!!! these guys are ****.  I used to get an a-hole named VIC calling me 3times a day 7 days a week.

You know what though?

Speak to the manager there.  Natasha 1-888-478-8181 (they know her) and ask her to give you your loan(s) #(s).   You can go to any RBC branch and make your payments there by giving that Loan#.

Trust me, don't let these guys intimidate you.  You have a right to be able to make payments.  Send them a letter detailing your assets and expenses (with photocopies of proof) and how much you can pay and how often.

THEY CAN'T REFUSE YOUR PAYMENTS.

I have learned all this on this website except for the info regarding Allied International.

I hope this helps.

good-luck and don't let them push you down.

If you are in western Canada Call up the RBC western student centre and ask for a recovery officer named Jim McConnel.  I had a different situation which WAS the RBC's fault, but this guy is fairly high up, and he LISTENS.  Try to get him and let him know all the illegal crap that these guys are doing.

I'd point out especialy that they refused your payments and try to get it put back as a RBC active loan.  You never know.

They have to accept any payment that you are able to offer them. At least this is what I have learned from this site.
For many years I was trying to pay them what I could. I admit it was not much maybe $ 25 or $ 50 per month, but at least I can say that I tried to pay, and each and every time they told me that was not good enough. They wanted the minimum $ 500.00 payment. So in turn I never paid them anything.
This is the reason that I am in the bad books. If anything they are the scum bags as they did not want me to pay them so I never did.

They just recently contacted me, this week.  they have been calling me every day since.  they constantly ask me what i will be doingabout the loan and when i tell them i cannot do anything at the moment they just keep calling and they dont take an answer.

are they very bad?  aside from the fact that they are calling me all the time and they are also calling me in the states (I am visting here and made the mistake of calling them once from here), what can i expect from them?

what do i do since i keep telling them i cannot pay until i can pay and they keep telling me you have to figure out how to pay the 16k.  i just want them to back off, what more can i say to them?

I had received numerous calls not to myself but at my mothers house...like she the one that owes the loan, anyway I was sent a letter from Allied that states RBC is giving a chance to get my account back with them, and they are contracted by RBC ,I spoke to Natasha who was very nice an told me that if I pay the back amount owing I can still apply for RBC's revision of terms and I would be eligable to receive the interest relief and other programs that RBC has to offer,I was given the amount that I owe and couple of weeks to come up with it ,I'm just wondering is this for real ?..has anyone been offered this ...help

I know it's been a while since this topic had been posted in, but I'm getting a minimum of 5 calls a day from Allied Consultants.

It's not bad enough they're calling me that often, they're calling my parent's house that often as well. My mother has already told them I don't live there, I haven't lived there in 3 years, and to take her number off their list as a contact number.

they told my mother that her number was the only number they had on file and they refused to remove her number.

My adventures with Allied Consultants started about 9 months after my wife and I bought our house.
We both applied for interest relief...after 6 months of constantly reapplying, my wife finally got interest relief. They kept telling me that my forms arrived blank (my wife and I used the same pen and there was ink on the paper when they went) I faxed off my pay stubs, which magically arrived with all the black ink missing, but the blue ink was there.
So, after I was told again that my paperwork arrived blank, I told Student Loan and Royal Bank where to go and they weren't getting another penny out of me.
Now, Allied Consultants is calling starting at 845 AST (illegal since they can't call before 9 AST) and stopping at 2110 AST (also illegal because they can't call after 2100AST)
I've told them I could make payments of $50 a month, and they told me that the only option left was paying it off in full I told them they aren't supposed to refuse any payment offers, and they told me they could do what they wanted.
At the time I was too upset to bother making note of the person's name, and now I will not answer the phone when the caller isn't identified on the call display.
Any suggestions?

I am glad that I'm not the only one having problems with these guys!! I'm new to this board and am very glad that it's here!!

The problems with my student loan started last fall when the Canada Student Loan Board took over, I had been on interest relief and was in the process of applying for debt reduction. The person I was dealing with at RBC was very nice, and had put me on interest only payments on my Federal loan (that's the only one I have problems with) until my debt reduction paperwork could go through. Well after I had sent in all the information, the changeover happened and when I contacted the CSLB for the first time they had no record of me ever filing for debt reduction or being on interest only payments!!! Great!! When I called RBC again, they told me that they had indeed sent all paperwork to CSLB, so back to them I went. They then told me that all student loans over 5 years old were being sent to Allied Consultants, by this time they had taken out 3 $300 payments even though they weren't supposed to so of course the payments bounced!! So then the phone calls from Allied started.... they even started calling me at work. They wanted me to pay back the full $900 ALL AT ONCE before they would consider revising my loan terms or payment amounts.... well sorry but that just won't happen. I earn about $100 less/month than what I pay out, so coming up with $900 all at once is not really the best option for me! I asked them if I could just make payments whenever I could afford to, even $100/month, they told me no it all had to be paid at once... I think this is crap!! They can't refuse your payment right? I mean is there any reason why I can't go in and make a payment when I can afford to? This just seems retarded to me!! I have sent them in documents showing my income and my monthly bills but to no avail. They don't care, and they are HORRIBLE to deal with! Now they're calling me telling me that it's been too long and they want it resolved RIGHT NOW or else.... or else what???

It gives me a headache!! Why does this have to be so difficult??? It's not that I don't want to pay back my loan, I just can't afford to pay what they want. I have used up all my interest relief and was actually getting things worked out with RBC until the stupid CSLB took over and "lost" all my paperwork!! I think I'm just going to call that Natasha person and talk to her and see if I can go in and make a payment of whatever I can afford every month and see if that will work. I mean they should be happy that you're paying SOMETHING!!!

They are incredulous!  They called every day ... to the point you don't even answer your own phone for fear of who it is!  Then after I switched to an unlisted number because they didn't seem to want to accept the fact I couldn't afford to pay them the grand they wanted in one shot and they refused to take payments.

Now they have taken to calling me at work (which I never gave them the number for) and so I called Royal Bank and they said we can't do anything, but unless you give them permission to call you at work, they can't.  They suggested I send a registered letter to Allied to tell them to "desist" calling me at work or I would take legal action.  If I keep getting daily calls, I risk losing my job!

So I called Allied to get their mailing address, and they refused to give me their address because I wouldn't tell them who I was!  I had to laugh .. and if they call again tomorrow (which they will) .. I will simply hang up .. again ... and until they are willing to work with me ... they won't be making a cent in commission off of me!

Do you want some help with this? From what you are describing, it can certainly escalate.

What sort of help is there?  I am sending them out a registered letter and sending a copy to Royal Bank as well.  They won't take anything but the whole thing and that is not an option.  They even had the gall to ask me the address of where I work to contact my employer.   It doesn't feel like there are any options.

There arte lots of things that can be done to fix this problem. Sending a registered letter is only going to irritate them - which int urn will come back to irritate you even more. These are banks, governments, and  collection agencies you are dealing with. If you read further, you will see that complaints are often not heard.

Well I am only one person and I am just following the advise of the bank.  And if I irritate them .. then great!  Point for me I say!  It is likely a pointless battle .. and it is late and I am seeing the glass as more then half empty rather then half full I am afraid.  Thank you for your ideas.

I am glad to see that I am not the only person who is being punished for being poor.  I am currently on interest relief for my gov't loans, however this time RBC didn't accept it, so, for 5 months I have not made payments.  I had Allied Consultants call me a couple of months in and since then they have been relentless.

I seem to be in a pretty backwards position however, since I have no way to make the outrageous payments they want, but I have found a way to combat the persistent phone calls.  It is considered harassment to have that abundance of calls and in turn I have taken to harassing them.  In the past week I have called them 5 times a day offering a small payment.  They have asked me to stop calling and I inform them that I just want to resolve it, and that it must be urgent because they continually call me.

It is true that this just angers them, but since I have no money, no assets and no credit I am in a good position to fight back.  I am always respectful to the person on the phone and never raise my voice or get upset.  I'm sure they will keep calling me, but I sleep better at night knowing I am as much of a bother to them as they are to me.  I have also made numerous complaints to my MP regarding this company.

Keep your chins up friends!  We are the people, we have the power to show that the way business is being done today is not acceptable and we demand a change.
