The amount of inaccurate data on US and Canadian credit reports is astonishing to say the least. What is more alarming is that creditors and student loan providers are either inadvertently or intentionally sending items for reporting that are not allowed. There are instances of barred accounts showing up, false activation and activity dates, inaccurate balances that can affect a consumer's TDSR, etc. In my opinion, the credit bureaus out there see this as an opportunity to make a lot of money because it enables them to market the urgency for people to purchase credit reports online. The fact that people have to pay for access to their own information other than admin/service costs is a corporate financial crime in itself. Like ridiculous banking fees, and deed transfer fees in Canada.
Our new Prime Minister should take this into account as problematic to healthy consumerism.
