This website is a testimony to the problems Canadian Student Loan borrowers experienced from approximately 1996 to 2008 and until their loans were paid off.

The privatization of the Student Loans system by the Chretien and Martin Liberal governments broke the system and defaulted thousands of borrowers who were trying to pay their loans. There were even stories of suicide due to the harassment of borrowers.

Read the report that I prepared back in 2007 here. Canada Student Loans-The Need for Change Fortunately the new Conservative government at the time revamped the program and fixed the system for new borrowers, but borrowers under the previous program were left with ruined credit and continued harassment from debt collectors.

I call on the Canadian Government to apologize to the borrowers affected by this fiasco and make amends.

Unfortunately the Liberal government is again clobbering the Education system with their upcoming changes to International Student Visas. Yes, there's a problem, but instead of a well thought out plan, they have pulled the emergency brake on the train causing a derailment. This has introduced unprecedented instability for both private and public education institutions who serve both international and local students.

Universities can't plan. I've heard of courses being cut because the government has no process in place for universities to send the newly required acceptance letters to the government.

This means that students who have been accepted can not attend courses that start in the summer 2024 semester. With cut sections, current Canadian students will have trouble getting courses, and may have to switch to part-time which changes their enrollment status and might trigger repayment of their loans or ineligibility for funding. I've seen this before. It wreaks havoc on the student loan borrowers.

Again, the Liberal government has messed up the education environment. Will the new system needed in a rush for the acceptance letters be the new Arrivecan scandal?

I call on the government to implement a slower phased in approach and delay the requirement of the acceptance letters until a process is in place to submit these letters.

Hi I just wanted to let everybody know my story. And that no matter
what your problem with student loan is John can help you. Well it all
started a couple of years ago. I thought I was paying on my student loan
but started to get letters saying I wasn't. When I would check or ask
about these letters they would say my student loan was fine. So I ignored
the letters and the calls. Then the collection agency's started to call and
they couldn't give you any real information about the collection. So as I
thought I was paying on them it turned out that I was only paying on the
federaland provincial bank student loan. And not the government federal
and provincial student loan. See I was going to school when the banks
and the government decided to go there seperate ways. So then they
became seperate loans. So now I had 4 loans to pay off and didn't know.
They wanted me to pay almost $600 a month between all of them a
month. Only making less then 16,000 a year I could not afford it. So I
decided to ignore them. The call started to get worse and worse. The last
straw was when they started to call my place of employment and harass
me and my employers.

I started to do some research on student loan debt help and came
across some testimonials about John Leblanc. They all sounded so
releaving. So I went back home and got my father to look at the web site
to see what he thought, because I hold my father's opinion in high regard
because he is very well educated and knows a thing or two. He thought it
was worth a try to call. Well I had to get my father to call because for the
last month before I called John all I could do was cry when I had to talk
about the collectors or my debt. So I got my father to call because I
wanted the person on the other end of the phone to be able to
understand my situation instead of hearing nothing but words through
sobs. He talked to my dad and the assured him that it would be O.K to
but me on the phone with him and it was o.k if I was crying through the
whole conversation. I was embarrassed to get on the phone at first
because I think crying in front of somebody is embarrassing. I got on the
phone anyways after some bushing from my dad. John started talking
first and calmed me down. Then when I was ready I could tell him my
story from my point of view. From that day on, and it's been about
7months, I felt so much more lighter and free.

Just recently, he helped me with HRDC. They weren't going to give me
the money to go back to school unless I was in good standing with
student loans. I thought I was screwed again by student loans, but he
called up my case worker and student loans and made it so everybody
was happy and now I'm happy to say I will be going back to school in
September thanks to John.

So if you are wondering if he can help you it doesn't cost anything to
call up and ask him what he can do for your situation. And If you are at all
stresses out by collectors I would really recommend that you do. I
garentee that by the end of the call you will have a smile on your face.
