 I have an ont student loan from
25 yrs ago
Today I received a letter from CRA informing me that ARO collection agency for osap will get my tax refund and credits like gst and trillium
I am on odsp and cppd -I need this money for food
Iam 63yrs old- i get 1200 mth on disability- I have MS
CRA said they are
Allowed by them under subsection 164 (2) of income tax act

Section 164 is the set-off rule. If you are on ODSP and can demonstrate that you require this money for survival then you can appeal to them. They will try their best to deter you and keep this money, but a life is a life - and if you do it properly you will succeed. I can coach and navigate you for an hour to help you but there is a small hourly fee for this service. If you cannot afford to then the best thing would be be to approach a free legal service if one exists, or local member of parliament office.
